Skills Bank Eligibility

Employer Eligibility

  • A South Yorkshire business (other than business start up or public sector) that has a clear case for material growth and has identified training that directly supports the organisation’s planned growth trajectory.
  • Businesses should have been in contact with one of SYMCA’s Skills Advisors within the last 6 months
  • Business must have an operational base (i.e. a physical site owned or leased by the business from which employees are contracted to work.) within one of the 4 Local Authority Areas of the South Yorkshire – Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield.   • To be eligible for Skills Bank support, a business must demonstrate established and ongoing revenue from its core trading activity. This revenue should provide sufficient evidence of market demand and support credible plans for future growth.

  • New businesses can be supported through Skills Bank providing they have been trading for at least 12 months and can demonstrate clear business objectives and initial success of their existing business model as well as capacity to grow. Skills Bank must not be used to support the start-up of a business.

  • Businesses should be within national Subsidy Control Limits including any subsidy that might be received through an application to Skills Bank
  • Businesses should be complaint with industry regulations and possess appropriate levels of Employer Insurance.
  • To be eligible the training must not be a statutory requirement or a duty of care and along with the application the businesses will need to submit a clear course outline for all training that they wish to be considered for support.

Learner Eligibility

  • Learners must be 19+
  • Must be legally employed by an organisation that is based in South Yorkshire
  • Legally reside in the UK
